MOHAI and Intiman Theatre present a Front Porch Theater performance of The Scarlet Letter, the story of Hester Prynne, one of the great female characters in American literature. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to come together to read an excerpt from the play aloud, followed by a moderated conversation about the issues and ideas it inspires. All are welcome; those who don’t wish to read are encouraged to attend as audience members and participate in the discussion. Free.

How have votes for women affected our democracy? Hear King County Elections Director Sherrill Huff, Washington State Women's History Consortium Coordinator Shanna Stevenson and Voter Action Director Holly Jacobson examine how 100 years of votes for Washington women have impacted our state and how everyone's voting is changing in today's digital age.

Women's Votes - Womens Voices, MOHAI's exhibition of how women won the vote in Washington in 1910 - the fifth state in the union to do so - will be open during regular museum hours through Oct. 1, 2010.
