This month’s program topic is privatization, the political movement to shift services, functions and assets from government to the private sector. What are the consequences for residents, both as taxpayers and as beneficiaries of these services? The September forum will feature a panel of local experts, presenting their views on the benefits and dangers of privatization, as well as a local perspective on its realities. Please note the change of date from our regular first Thursday schedule to accommodate the Labor Day holiday.

The League will hold two training sessions for people who would like to be able to present information about the issues on the November ballot to community organizations. League members analyze the ballot issues each year, and produce a guide which presents both sides of each issue in an unbiased manner; speakers will be trained to deliver the information gathered. League speakers are in great demand before an election because of their reputation for thoroughness and objectivity. For more information, call the League office at (206) 329-4848.
