In response to a Direction to the Board at the Annual Meeting asking for more evening meetings, the International Relations Committee has scheduled this evening session. It will be only the second such meeting, and the program will reflect suggestions made at the first meeting. But surely the discussion of what the group would like to do will continue - you can still be a charter member! Given the hour, light refreshment will be served. The League of Women Voters of King County South is hosting a forum on Climate Change and Water Supply on Wednesday, November 28. What priority does water have among the many problems presented by climate change? What plans are under way to protect the livability of our region? Are solutions being framed rapidly enough? A panel will provide information and respond to questions from the audience. This is a free public forum. Please join us.

Note that the Social Justice Committee now meets on the first Monday of the month. At the Decmber meeting, the committee will hear an update from Bill Block, Project Director, The Committe to End Homelessness, on the 10-year plan to end homelessness in King County. Members will discuss with Mr. Block our mutual concerns about housing availability, full funding for the "services in place," and community education efforts.

The International Relations Committee will continue to discuss its research on the UN's Millenium Development Goals to cut poverty, better maternal health, an dincrease literacy, among other things, around the world. The committee's research has just begun and will culminate in April 2008 in a report and forum. New members are welcome.
